SPACEMAN with Paul Rous SESC Araquara Brasil. Starting point for developing movement in white dresses designed by Heather MacCrimmon

Dudendance started collaborating with Heather MacCrimmon with Spaceman in 2010. Movement in the dresses unfolds like a paper origami figure. The slow meditative pace allows for slow transformations. Paul is able to "fill" the dress with robotic, mechanical movement and then collapse down until the figure disappears within the folds of the paper. Heather will develop large-scale costumes for Borderlands which will allow us to explore the sculptural possibility of the paper fabric.

All physical features are hidden.

The figure can collapse down.
The paper folds and the figure disappears.

For Spaceman the dress acts as a space suit.
